In an act of blasphemy, the Masti Venkatesh Iyengar Rangamandira in the town has been used to distribute meat after sacrificing an animal by the Town Municipal Council staff and personnel, alleged Karnataka Rakshana Vedike secretary S Prakash and demanded dismissal of TMC Chief Officer.

Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, he alleged that during the recent Ayudha puja celebration, pourakarmikas and Town Municipal Council staff have misused the Rangamandira by sacrificing the animal.

The Rangamandira was built to promote Kannada literary and cultural programmes but it is unfortunate that the place’s sanctity could not be upheld, he alleged.

He demanded the deputy commissioner to dismiss the TMC chief officer and also threatened to hold protest if the Vedike’s demand was not met.
