'Roads will be developed by March'

The work on all the PWD roads in Virajpet will be completed by March, said Assistant engineer N T Suresh.

Speaking to presspersons, he said the government has released Rs 23.50 crore to take up urgent repair work in the taluk. Tender process has been completed.

An action plan of Rs 49 crore has been prepared to develop the highway. The proposal has been okayed the State government.

The government is likely to release funds in the first week of December. The roads to be developed include a bridge across Ramatheertha on Kutta-Madikeri road (Rs 150 lakh), development and widening of Madikeri road (Rs 180 lakh), widening of Kutta-Madikeri road till Gonikoppa (Rs 200 lakh), asphaltation of Thithimathi-Konakatte road (Rs 40 lakh), repair of Kutta-Madikeri road (Rs 30 lakh), Konanoor-Makutta road (Rs 300 lakh), widening of Kutta-Madikeri road near Palibetta Athur (Rs 190 lakh), Hunasoor-Talacauvery road (Rs 100 lakh), reasphaltation of Ammathi-Thithimathi road (Rs 100 lakh), Siddapura-Palibetta road (Rs 100 lakh), Chennayyanakote-Chennangi Abboor road (Rs 100 lakh), Virajpet-Karada road (from Arji to Heggala—Rs 200 lakh), Moornadu junction to Baindur (Rs 200 lakh). Atleast 15 work has already commenced.
