Ten held for theft at filmmaker's house

The Central Crime Branch police have arrested 10 persons who had allegedly stolen valuables worth Rs 15 lakh from the house of a Tamil film producer in KR Puram recently.

The police have recovered one kilogram of gold ornaments and 11 kilogram of silver articles from them.

The arrested were identified as Ajju alias Jnanapr- akash, Rudresh, George Santosh, Philips alias Imtiyaz alias Harry Philips, Muniyappa, Muniraj, Imran Khan, Rizwan Baig, Syed Fayaz alias Tailor Fayaz and Shakeel Ahmed.

The accused struck at the residence of film producer Purushotham on October 9 when he was away in Chennai for the of release his movie ‘Paagan.’

The thieves had ransacked the house and the theft came to light when Purushottam returned to Bangalore a few days later, said B Dayananda, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime, East Division).

Recently, the police arrested George Santosh, a relative of the prime accused Ajju, when he was moving suspiciously and he spilled the beans.

Ajju had been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police by then and was lodged at the Chittoor jail. The Bangalore police obtained a body warrant and brought him to the City.

One of the arrested, Rudresh, had allegedly robbed a woman of her valuables worth Rs 2.25 lakh in Subramanyapura.

Philips was allegedly involved in a theft case reported in Yelahanka.

With the arrest of the gang, the police have solved burglaries reported from KR Puram, Subramanyapura, Cottonpet, Yelahanka, Srinivasapur in Kolar district and Chikkaballapur.
