Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, he said that the results of Lok Sabha elections in the State will be analysed in the meeting and the issues related to strengthening the party will also be discussed.

Yeddyurappa said that the credit for the victory of his son B Y Raghavendra should go to committed workers of the party. It is heartening to note that many youths and those belonging to SC/ST communities are elected as MPs from the State this time.

Political polarisation

He hinted that ‘Operation Lotus’ will continue even after the Lok Sabha election. “I prefer to call it as political polarisation which will take place on all 365 days of the year,” he said.

Yeddyurappa dismissed the reports regarding defection in BJP as rumours.

“If MLA Renukacharya has met with few legislators to discuss their problems, I don’t see any thing wrong in it,”  the  chief minister said.

“We have succeeded in equalling the earlier record by winning 19 seats in the State. Impressed with the development works of State Government, people have voted for BJP,” he said.

Raghavendra who spoke on the occasion said that development initiatives of NDA and the budgets presented by his father as Finance minister helped him to win the election.

Undemocratic means

Former minister Kumar Bangarappa has alleged that BJP has won the election in the constituency through undemocratic means.

“It is the triumph of the power of money and illicit liquor. BJP was involved in rampant irregular practices to win the election here,” he said speaking to mediapersons on Saturday.

Kumar Bangarappa admitted that things worked against expectations for the Congress in Shimoga.

“We were expecting huge lead in Baindoor and Sorab which unfortunately didn’t happen,” he added. Meanwhile, Kumar Bangarappa thanked the JD(S) for supporting the Congress in Shimoga.

With the support of JD(S) we could get good number of votes in Bhadravati and Tirthahalli segments, Kumar Bangarappa added.
