Court dismisses complaint against Dutta

Last Updated 28 November 2012, 18:49 IST

The Special Lokayukta Court on Wednesday dismissed a private complaint filed against Additional Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Rupak Kumar Dutta.

The Court ruled that the contentions made in the complaint did not attract the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and hence did not fall under the purview of the Special Lokayukta Court.

The complainant Mallesh had alleged that Dutta, during his tenure as Additional Director General of Police, Lokayukta, in 2009 enrolled into a three-year law course at Arunodaya Institute of Legal Studies under the Karnataka State Law University.

False certificate

He had alleged that Dutta did not seek permission from the government to pursue the law course and, later got a false certificate of attendance from the college to enable himself to take the examination.

Mallesh had also stated that Dutta attended his fifth semester examination, but records for the corresponding dates in the office showed that he had not taken a leave of absence on those dates.
