Maya blames Cong, BJP and SP for poor show

“The SP, Congress and BJP conspired against my party and misled the muslims as a result of which the BSP could not win more seats,” Mayawati told a hurriedly called press conference here.

Mayawati alleged that the Congress, BJP and SP got together and transferred their votes to the one, who was in the best position to defeat our candidate. “Therefore, we had to fight against the combined strength of these three parties,” she asserted. The CM alleged further that the SP and the Congress ‘joined hands to misled the muslims saying that the BSP had formed government thrice with BJP support and would again join the NDA formation’.

“Owing to this conspiracy, muslim votes got divided between these two parties and the BSP got Muslim votes only where it had strong Muslim candidates,” she said.

She however expressed satisfaction at the increased vote share of her party and said that despite the conspiracy against her party, the BSP held on to its tally.

“In fact our vote percentage has increased to 27 per cent in Uttar Pradesh and 6.22 per cent at the national level making the BSP the third biggest party at the national level after Congress and BJP,” she added.

In an indication that she wanted to build bridges with the Congress, Mayawati said that her party would continue to fight the communal forces.
