Murder case solved, five arrested

The City police have cracked the recent murder case of a homealone woman Zabina Taj in Bommanahalli and arrested five people, on Wednesday.

The arrested are Mohammed Farooq (30) of Gounapalli village in Kolar, Ilias (24) of Anekal, Keval Ram (30) of Gounapalli village, Ajay Kumar Shetty (40) of Laggere and Sadiq (28), a resident of Bommanahalli.

While Mohammed and Ilias worked as coolies in KR Market, Keval Ram ran a tea stall in his native village. Ajay worked as an auto driver and Sadiq was a house broker in Bommanahalli.

On November 23, a gang of five men murdered Zabina Taj at her residence in Bommanahalli and robbed her of gold ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 40,000 in cash.

Murder for gain

Establishing that it was a murder for gain, the Vyalikaval police swung into action and arrested a man who was trying to sell gold ornaments at a pawn shop in their limits.

During interrogation, he admitted to having murdered Zabina Taj with the help of four others.

Based on his information, the police arrested the other four members.
The police have also recovered 280 gram of gold ornaments and Rs 37,000 in cash.
