<p>Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar told the Council on Thursday that the government was unable to initiate phase 2 of the Bangalore Metro project as the Union Cabinet’s approval for the same was awaited.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Replying to a query posed by BJP MLC M R Doreswamy in the Council, Shettar said that once the Centre gave its nod, the State would start works on the project and complete the same within five years.<br /><br />“The State Cabinet has given its approval for the project and set aside Rs 400 crore for preliminary works. A proposal has been sent to the Centre for release of funds. In fact I have given a separate memorandum to Union Home Minister P Chidambaram,” he added.</p>
