Rakshith, Archana win

Malles­waram Association’s Rakshith RB scored a facile win over Sucheth Shenoy to claim the boys’ Sub-junior title while Archana Kamath had to put up with a stiffer resistance from Spoorthy MV en route the corresponding girls’ title in the CVL Shastry Memorial State table tennis championships.

At the Indian Gymkhana on Friday, Rakshith, who had overcome Shreyas Kulkarni after their hard-fought semifinal encounter earlier in the day, posted a 11-8, 12-10, 11-8 win over Horizon’s Shenoy in the summit tie.  CCA’s Archana had a tough time before getting past Spoorthy with a 11-9, 3-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9 win in the title round.

Results: Boys: Sub-junior (final): Rakshith RB (Malleswaram Association) bt Sucheth Shenoy (Hor) 11-8, 12-10, 11-8. Semifinals: Rakshith RB bt Shreyas Kulkarni 11-6, 11-6, 8-11, 14-16, 11-9; Suchet Shenoy bt Karan Gollerkeri 4-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-9.

Girls: Sub-junior (final): Archana Kamath (CCA) bt Spoorthy MV (PTTA) 11-9, 3-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-9. Semifinals: Archana bt Disha Gupta 11-5, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6; Spoorthy bt Kushi V 11-2, 11-6, 12-10.
