Couple assaulted for not giving way to MLA's vehicle

A Haryana MLA and his security guards allegedly unleashed terror on a couple as they reportedly failed to give way to his vehicle.

The incident took place on Jind-Hissar Road on Tuesday. Congress MLA Ramnivas Ghorela allegedly misbehaved with the woman on the road while his guards beat up
her husband in public glare for objecting to his misconduct.

Ghorela is the MLA from Barwala constituency.  Following pressure from the public and the couple, who blocked the highway against the incident, police said they have booked the politician, guards and the driver.

Ghorela was returning from Karnal with his cavalcade.  It was a busy road with a long queue of vehicles.

The driver tried to overtake the car in which the couple were travelling.  It took time before the couple could give way.

Infuriated, the driver waylaid the victims’ vehicle. Ghorela flanked by his security guard came out of his car and started misbehaving with the woman sitting inside. Her husband intervened and tried to resist him.

 The guard pounced on the man and thrashed him. They also abused and harassed others who objected Ghorela’s action, sources said.

In protest, people with the couple blocked the traffic on multiple routes for hours seeking the arrest the MLA.

Police initially tried to dilly-dally but later registered an FIR. Political parties have condemned the incident.
