Karnataka clinch team title

State bowlers make it three in a row at mega event

The State team, comprising Pratima Hegde, Girish Gaba, Shashi Kumar, Anthony Rajkumar and Vijay Punjabi, won four gold, three silver and five bronze medals in the tournament.

Tamil Nadu, who ended their campaign with two gold, four silver and two bronze, finished in second place. The Tamil Nadu team of Sabeena Saleem, Rajmohan Palaniappan, Tarun, Yousuf Shabbir and Rahul Parvez won a second gold medal for their state by clinched the mixed team five event in a very close contest, defeating the Karnataka team by a mere 23 pins.  The winning team from Tamil Nadu scored a total of 5629 in 30 games while the Karnataka teams notched up 5606 pins in 30 games.

Dilbir Singh won West Bengal’s first gold ever, grabbing the men’s All events crown by scoring 4864 pins in 24 games. Shashi Kumar (4671) and Girish Gaba (4573) of Karnataka won the silver and bronze respectively. Pratima Hedge of Karnataka won the gold medal in the women’s All events by averaging 187.42 in the 24 games, followed by Sabeena Saleem of TN and Swapna Mitra of Karnataka with an average of 184.92 and 175.71 respectively in the 24 games.
