Apurvi, Nikita emerge on top

Apurvi Chandela of Rajasthan won the women’s air rifle gold in the 56th National shooting championship at the Dr Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Monday.

Chandela topped with a score of 498.7 (395+103.7).  Pooja Ghatkar of Maharashtra won the silver 498.5 (395+103.5) while the bronze went to Pournima Chinmoy of Madhya Pradesh 497.6 (396+101.6).

Nikita Salunke of Maharashtra won the gold medal (396) in the junior women’s air rifle competition followed by Apurvi Chandela of Rajasthan (395) and Mampi Das of West Bengal (393).

In rifle prone event, Sushil Ghaley of Army won the gold medal (593+102.4) followed by Rakesh Manpat of Karnataka (591+103.2) and Sanjeev Rajput of Navy (588+104). In sports pistol women’s section, Sushma Singh of Uttrakhand won the gold medal (580+ 200.5) and Rahi Sarno-bat of Maharashtra the silver (583+196.4).

The bronze medal went to Olympian Annuraj Singh (573+201.6).

Shreyasi Singh of Bihar bagged the women’s double trap gold medal with a score of 88.
There was a tie for the silver medal between Seema Tomar and Varsha Tomar of Army, both scoring 83, But Seema prevailed in the shoot-off.

In the men’s double trap, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore of Army was leading with a score of 96 after two rounds followed by Mohd Asab of UP (95).

Ronjan Sodhi and Shayan Masood were tied on third place (93).
