GP member, friend, 'rape' woman

A gram panchayat member and his friend allegedly raped a home-alone woman and beat her at her house in Hunsur taluk late Monday night.

Around 11 pm on Monday, gram panchayat member Nazeer and his friend, Naga barged into the victim’s house in Kudineerumuddanahalli on the pretext of asking drinking water, police said.

The woman, whose husband died two months ago, was injured after the duo assaulted her for raising an alarm. She has been admitted to the Government Hospital here, police said.

Hunsur Rural police are searching for Nazeer and his aide Naga, both of whom have fled the village.
