BJP seeks judicial inquiry in cop's death

The BJP has demanded a high-level judicial enquiry into the cause of death of constable Subhash Chandra Tomar who collapsed during last Sunday’s protests at India Gate.

City BJP president Vijendra Gupta said the way in which police commissioner Neeraj Kumar termed the death of Tomar as murder without a post-mortem report indicates that police want to implicate innocent young protesters for murder.

“The way in which the union home minister, home secretary, Delhi chief minister, police commissioner, sub-divisional magistrate Vivek Vihar and the doctor who did a preliminary examination of the body are giving contradictory statements, it seems that all are hatching a grave conspiracy,” said Gupta. He said each one of them is blaming the other.

Gutpa said the chief minister is hatching a conspiracy against the police commissioner and the home minister. “The way in which she allowed her letter to the home minister to be leaked seems that she wants to make the demonstration and the death of the policeman a tool of her political game. She is neither worried about the victim nor Tomar’s death,” he said.

Gupta said the preliminary examination report of Tomar should be made public so that the alleged conspiracy can be exposed.
