Three people, including a woman home guard, ended their lives in the City
since Wednesday night.

Mala, 23, working with the Home Guards was found hanging at her house on Thursday morning at Kashinagar. She was married to Krishnamurthy, a mechanic, six years ago and the couple had a four-year-old son, Jeevan. Krishnamurthy is an alcoholic and used to harass his wife physically and mentally, police said.

On Wednesday night too, Krishnamurthy came home drunk and had a tiff with Mala. On Thursday morning, he found his wife hanging from the ceiling fan in the hall.

In another incident, Doreraju, 38, a coolie, was found hanging at his house in Babusapalya on Wednesday night. The incident came to light when some of his neighbours went to his house Thursday morning.

Police sources say Doreraju was a chronic alcoholic because of which his second wife Sivakami, with whom he was living, had left him and gone back to her parents house the previous day. Depressed by this, Doreraju took the extreme step. Jeevan Bimanagar police have registered a case.

In the third incident, Sushanth Patil, 28, from Pune, was found dead in a hotel room in Basaveshwara Nagar on Thursday morning. He had checked into Balaji Residency at Modi Circle two days ago. The incident came to light when the hotel employees opened the room door with the master key on Thursday morning as he did not answer any of their calls for room service.

Police sources say Patil was unemployed and had come to the City in search of a job.
