Paite earns Pune FC full points

Pune FC edged past Shillong Lajong FC 2-1 on Saturday in their I-League match amid demands by the coaches and the home crowd to improve refereeing standards. 

Pune struck through Jeje Lalpekhlua in the 30th minute when he netted a cross from Karma Tsewang from inside the box.   Jeje, who was injured in the melee, was immediately replaced by Khanthang Paite who went on to score the winning goal for Pune in the 48th.

Lajong reduced the margin through Govin Singh’s 35 yard shot. Both the coaches criticised the referee Pranjal Banerjee for some of his “harsh” decisions during the match.

USFC hold ONGC

ONGC and United Sikkim Football Club battled out a 1-1 draw in their 13th round match at the Ambedkar Stadium.   Nima Tamang (13th) put United Sikkim in the lead before ONGC equalised through Sachin Gawas in the 24th minute. 

In Kalyani, Sporting Clube de Goa defeated Prayag United 3-1. Ogba Kalu Nnanna (5th, 68th and Joseph Pereira (90+) netted for Sporting while Ranti Martins scored the consolation goal for Prayag in the 14th minute.
