8th edition of Children's Film Festival from Jan 9

 The eighth edition of the flagship five-day International Children’s Film Festival, gets underway from January 9, 2013, with as many as 135 films from over 25 countries being screened across five cities. These would comprise of 68 feature films and 67 short films.

Besides Bangalore, the multi-city screenings will take place in Hubli, Mysore, Dharwad and Mangalore, across the State. Briefing reporters, Children’s India President  N R Nanjunde Gowda, whose brainchild the festival is, said the festival comprises of three sub-sections — Competitive, Country Focus and Environmental. This time country focus is — South Korea and The Netherlands.

According to Nanjunde Gowda, the objective was to ignite the young minds even as they had fun while watching the films. Further, to promote the festival in Bangalore, two pre-festival events — Flash Mob and Rainbow Walk, have been planned.
The Flash Mob will be performed by young children to spread the message of the film festival and celebrate the joy of dancing.

All walks of life

The Rainbow Walk will see them come together from all walks of life to celebrate Unity in Diversity — Culture, Enthnicity & Cinema, donning different costumes representing different cultures of the world.

The countries from where films are being screened include Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, China, Columbia, Finland, Germany, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, Sweden, Sri Lanka, USA and UK, among others.

In Bangalore, besides Bal Bhavan, in Cubbon Park, the main festival venue, films will been screened at Sulochana Auditorium in Information Department, Orion Mall, Rajajinagar, Gopalan Mall, Mysore Road and Rajarajeshwarinagar, Vision Screens 1 &2, Menaka and Adharsha theatres.
