Tamil actor Jiiva feels that his latest release, Neethane En Ponvasantham, is a lot like the story of his life.

Jiiva and his wife knew each other from school, grew up together and even went to college together, before they got married five years back. And this is what happens in the movie too.

Jiiva has known his wife for the last 18 years. “My latest film is about love and those in love will instantly relate to it. It makes a lot of difference when you have known your partner for a long time before you get married. I can easily relate to all the conversations in the films. And when you are in love, technology plays a great role. I play a school boy and I sport a boyish look throughout the film. It’s a straight-forward, sweet character,” says Jiiva.

He further states that his character changes in the second half of the movie. “It’s a little more fast-paced and there’s more action packed into the love sequence. That’s the twist in the tale,” he says.

Jiiva is also working on his next film titled, Yaan, which means ‘me’ in Tamil. “We’ve shot in the Middle East and the movie has the feel of a James Bond film with loads of non-stop action. The technical crew is from Germany, so we’ve roped in the best,” he says. He switches to a more sober role in Endrendrum Punnagai, which is about friendship.  In addition to a number of projects, Jiiva has his own production lined up as well and confesses that he has always worked with new directors and encouraged them.

“My career began with a new director and it has been shaped by several new directors thereafter,” he shares.

On the home front, Jiiva says that he misses communicating with his son in gibberish. “My wife and son join me when I am away shooting for a long time. But now my wife is busier than I am with the construction of our house and our chain of restaurants,” he wraps up.
