Mirji calls for peace

City Police Commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji told Deccan Herald that the police have taken all measures to ensure peace and harmony across the City on Monday.

“We request the devotees to maintain peace and pay their last respects. All arrangements have been made for devotees to pay their last respects. We have also asked the KSRP to be on alert and will use their services only if the situation demands.”

Traffic around the key areas where the body will be taken in a procession will be diverted and the public are requested to co-operate with the authorities. “The body of the pontiff will be taken in a procession to Adichunchanagiri at around 9.30 am, where it will be cremated with full state honours.”

The procession, which begins from the Mutt premises in Vijayanagar, will pass through M C Layout, Magadi Road, Kamakshipalya, Ring Road, Peenya, Hesaraghatta Road, Tumkur Road toll gate, Nelamangala, Kudur, Anchepalya, Kunigal taluk, Yediyur and Bellur Cross, before reaching Nagamangala and Adichunchanagiri.

About 5,000 police personnel will be stationed at sensitive positions. The police will be stationed upto
Hesaraghatta Cross, Nelamangala and Tumkur Police will be positioned at Tumkur Road toll gate and Bellur Cross, respectively.
