Madikeri Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has given approval for the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP).

Speaking to presspersons, MUDA President P Sajil said that the members have given approval to the CDP and has been sent to the government. The CDP should have been revised in 2007. However, the administrative body had not given importance to it.

The MUDA had received 270 objections against the CDP. Most of the objections were appealing not to widen a few roads in Madikeri. Accordingly, the MUDA has decided to retain Hill Road (12 metre), Ganapathy road (9 metre), Mahadevapete road (12 metre), College road (12 metre). Tollgate to Chowki road will be widened by 20 metre.

“The land owners have the right to use the land for agriculture and commercial purposes. The owners should take permission from the MUDA before converting the agriculture land for commercial purpose in the city limits,” he added.

A few organisations are spreading rumours against the CDP. In the recently concluded investors meeting, eight companies have sought permission for converting their land for commercial purposes. The proposal has been sent to the government.
