Vindu Dara Singh came to limelight after participating in and winning Bigg Boss 3. Having done mainly small roles in big films like Kambakkht Ishq, Son of Sardaar, Partner, Housefull 2, Joker and other films, Vindu, son of the late wrestler-actor Dara Singh, considers winning the reality show the highest point in his career.

.
“Even after three years, people meet me and narrate incidents of Bigg Boss 3. They remember things which even I have forgotten. On the contrary if you do daily soaps, people tend to forget your role very easily. So, no matter how many films I have done, Bigg Boss remains the highest point of my career so far,” he shares with Metrolife.

Vindu has no hesitation in accepting that whatever he has achieved in life is because of his late father Dara Singh, a well-known wrestler who is also remembered for playing Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan and several films. Have you been able to come out of your father’s shadow? “I love being called Dara Singh’s son and would never want to come out of his shadow. I deliberately started using his name alongside mine.”

Dara Singh was known equally as a talented wrestler and an actor but Vindu chose to act rather than follow in his father’s footsteps as a sportsperson. Why? “Anyone who has experienced a little luxury in life cannot become a wrestler. It demands lots and lots of hard work, determination and concentration. All you have to do is eat, sleep and practice. Whenever somebody asked me to pursue wrestling, I would lock myself in a bathroom. I am thankful that my father let me pursue what I wanted to.”

Vindu recently became a host on reality TV show Welcome: Baazi Mehmaan Naawazi Ki and entertained television actors Sara Khan, Anupam Shyam, Aman Verma and Nauheed Cyrusi at home. Not only did he turn a host but also cooked for them, which was the ‘most challenging part’. “I love to host people and I am very good at it. The only problem is I am not a very good cook. So I kept the menu very simple. It comprised both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes which are very simple to make but taste awesome,” says the 48-year-old married actor.

Talking about his future projects, Vindu informs that he’ll be seen in Sajid Nadiawala’s Himmatwala and Kick and Sunil Agnihotri’s Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya, starring Mika and Shaan. “Sajid’s father and dad were very good friends. He always tells me that ‘in almost all my father’s films Daraji had a role and so you have to be there in all my movies’.” Some friendship and loyalty that!
