Indignant relatives of a couple, who were forced to marry by the Bajrang Dal activists on Valentines’ Day on Thursday, have registered complaints against the saffron brigade for their action.

Activists found the couple –Raju and Gautami— at a park in Kushaiguda area. They picked them up and performed the wedding rituals at a nearby temple.

They had earlier warned youngsters not to hang around the city’s park and threatened to forcibly perform wedding rituals between the offending couples.

While Raju and Gautami were happy to tie the knot, relatives allege that they are cousins and therefore their marriage had been opposed.

Deliberate attempt

“ I think they deliberately went out on Valentines day so that the Bajrang Dal will solemnise the marriage, how can we accept this marriage since they are brother and sister as far as their relationship goes” one of Raju;s relative said.

Raju’s kin have lodged a formal complaint against Bajrang Dal activists.

Following the threats by the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad to ‘counsel’ or forcibly marry couples found in public places like parks, authorities had locked the parks in the city, making it inconvenient for lovers to meet.
