However, timely arrival of the police and fire force personnel averted a major tragedy.
Night patrolling cops of the Hennur police station noticed a cracker ‘rocket’ going down inside the godown of SS Enterprises in HRBR Layout.  Within minutes, thick smoke started billowing out of the godown followed by flames.

The police alerted the fire force personnel. Six fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was put off immediately, police said. “We don’t know from which direction the cracker rocket came. It was still burning when it went inside the godown. This is a classic example of negligence. There are few godown where papers and other wastes have been stored near SS Enterprise godown. It would have been a major fire mishap had the incident occurred late in the night. It’s not known who lit the cracker,” they said.

One Sagyanathan owns SS Enterprises. It is a godown where used teakwood materials of different sizes and shapes were stored.

The materials are used for construction purposes. Sagyanathan wanted to renovate the entire godown and postponed the work due to Deepavali, said one of Sagyanathan’s relatives.
