Dilsukhnagar is one of the largest commercial and residential centres in Hyderabad. Spread across 20 sq kms, the area was earlier under the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad.

The area derived its name from Dilsukh Ram, a resident who owned agricultural land around Malakpet. He divided his land into plots and built a colony, which he named Dilsukhnagar.

Earlier, the area was a residential suburb. Economic growth in the last decade has transformed Dilsukhnagar into a major commercial hub.

The Gaddiannaram fruit market here is the main fruit market in the state and one of the largest in the world. It is also a well-known educational hub and a chosen location for many institutions, coaching and training centers. Dilsukhnagar Public School and Gowtham Model School are the prominent schools in this locality.

It also houses the Sai Baba Temple  where a scooter bomb blast in 1999 killed two persons.
The Padmavamshi hand-loom and textiles market is located at the Kothapet area near the HUDA complex.
