A construction worker was killed and six persons sustained injuries when a car hit two bikes and four pedestrians in Jayanagar 6th Block Saturday night.
According to police, Rajeshwari was driving her car back home with her children after visiting a relative. She lost control of the vehicle when a car in front of hers applied brakes without warning. She rammed her car against two bikes and four pedestrians who were crossing the road.
Farooq, 22, a construction worker from Andhra Pradesh, was killed on the spot while Riyaz, Abdul and Khaleel, who were crossing the road, sustained injuries. Rajeshwari fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, after the accident. However, she was arrested from her house nearby.
Financier mowed down
In another accident, N Nagaraju (39), a financier, was killed after he was knocked down by a speeding lorry on Bellary Road on Saturday night.
Nagaraju was a resident of Cholanayakanahalli, RT Nagar. He was returning home after the day’s work and was hit by the lorry near Swathi Garden Hotel. He sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but was declared brought dead.
The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. Yelahanka Traffic Police have registered a case.
