Former Karnataka Housing Board chairman 00:35:19, who recently quit the BJP, returned to JD(S) at a party workers’ convention held in Mysore on Monday.
Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy formally inducted him into the party by giving him a JD(S) flag.
Devegowda had joined BJP during the 2008 Assembly elections and was appointed chairman of Karnataka Housing Board (KHB). He tendered resignation to the post and primary membership of the BJP a week ago.
Addressing the party workers, Devegowda said he will not quit the party againnunder any circumstances. Devegowda said joining the BJP was a bad phase in his life.
He fell ill after joining the BJP and was hospitalised. “Kumaraswamy had visited me at the hospital and inquired my health. Now, when I haver returned to my parent party, he has welcomed me with open arms,” he said.
Devegowda said he had not joined the JD(S) to become an MLA or a minister, but with the sole intention of making Kumaraswamy the next chief minister. Devegowda, a former MLA from Hunsur, was Co-operation minister in the Kumarswamy government.
