East Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor Annapurna Mishra and commissioner of the civic agency S S Yadav were at loggerheads on Tuesday on the issue of alleged irregularities in putting up advertising unipoles.

Misra rejected an inquiry report filed into allegations of erecting unauthorised advertising unipoles — large frames used for display — in several areas. The report claimed that only six such structures were found.

The EDMC had ordered a probe in January into allegations that a large number of advertising unipoles have come up in east Delhi.

The mayor of the BJP-ruled civic agency alleged that in her inspection record, there were some 210 unauthorised unipoles in EDMC areas. “In my surprise inspection on January 8, it was found that there were 210 illegal unipoles. But the report submitted to me says only six were found and dismantled,” said Mishra.
