Two arrested for murder of a silk trader in Srinivaspur

The arrested are - Papireddy (25), and Nandeesh (20), both belonging to Kolluru village. Meanwhile, another accused - Shankar, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, is said to be still absconding.

Police said, all the three accused had lured Nanjundareddy that they would give Rs two lakh fake notes, if the trader offered them an amount of Rs one lakh. Believing their words, Nanjundareddy arrived with Rs one lakh on the outskirts of the forests on October 7.

Consumes poison

The three accused murdered Nanjundareddy and escaped with the cash. Two days after the body was recovered, Nanjundareddy’s friend Papireddy, one of the accused, consumed poison and was admitted to a hospital.  On interrogation, Papireddy spilled the beans, the police said.

Based on the information given by Papireddy, the police arrested the second accused, Nandeesh, who was hiding in Chintamani.

The accused have been remanded in judicial custody. A sum of Rs 84,000 has been recovered from the accused.  Police have launched a manhunt for the third accused.
A team comprising Circle Inspector Lingaiah, Sub Inspector Prakash and other staff members, and led by DySP Rajanna has succeeded in solving the murder case.
