To add to the joyous occasion, the evening also witnessed Sharmistha Mukherjee, President Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter, walk the ramp in her support to the cause.
Speaking on the occasion, Turkish ambassador to India Burak Akcapar said, “A wise man once said that educating a girl means educating the whole society. Women are our mothers, spouses, daughters and colleagues after all. I cannot think of a cause nobler than raising awareness and funds to help educate and train the better half of our societies. When women finally attain their rightful place in our societies, the world would be a better place.”

Geeti Bhagat of the Earth Foundation said, “I am delighted that leading personalities from around the world came forward to campaign for the future of a girl child.” Funds raised from the event  will be directed towards the foundation’s projects, focusing on education and health of the girl child and pre and post natal care of mothers.
