Don corsets for those curves

STAY STYLISH

The pressure to look curvy and chic is every young woman’s dream these days. Infact, size zero may or not be as important as the need to flaunt those curves. And what better way to draw attention to them, than to bring back the good old dependable corset which faithfully comes to the rescue.

It adds to the I-am-slim look, turning your body into a fashionable and
enviable silhouette. For women, a corset emphasises curves by tightening the waist flab and thereby exaggerating the bust and hips. However, in some cases, corsets have been worn to achieve a tubular straight-up-and-down shape, which involves minimising bust and hips.

Mini Bindra, owner of Pakistan Fashion Design Council, says, “Corsets make your stomach look firmer without that saggy skin or wobbly flab abs. This way, you appear slimmer just a tiny bit. They are designed to create the ever appealing hourglass figure.”

One can match a corset with a certain set of outfits. Try wearing your favourite corset with a dark denim that is straight with stilettos. The dark straight leg jeans will not only look classy and elegant with stilettos but the leg and heels will elongate the legs, making you look taller. One can also try a corset with either a pencil or a full-length skirt but not with a mini, for if the latter gets too short you’ll look top heavy and disproportionate.

Every woman’s body is shaped differently and the same is true for corsets. It leaves an impression on your outfit without a fuss. Add a corset to your wardrobe and watch it spin the magic around your style.

Corsets have held a place in the fashion world for years, however, the way in which they are worn has changed drastically. From slimming underclothes to sexy bedroom wear, corsets can now be worn as classy tops with a variety of everyday outfits. Pair a corset top with skinny jeans for a casual, sexy ensemble for a night out with girlfriends and you are set to rock the world. The corset can also be worn as the bodice of a dress by attaching it to a skirt to make an elegant evening dress.

According to designer Pam Mehta, “Lace, satin and silks are evergreen. One can also add sleeves or crystal straps to glamourise the corset. Corsets with fine embroideries can be teamed up with Indian attires, like sarees too.”
