The Commission has made arrangements to make sure that the donations made by the public reached the needy in flood-affected areas.

Commission Chairperson Nina P Nayak led a team of members, which visited a few flood-hit villages in Bellary, Raichur, Koppal, Bagalkot and Bijapur.

Children’s plight

During the visit, it focused on the plight of children in the affected areas. The team observed that many children were in trauma, as they were rendered homeless and had no food for many days.

Nina Nayak said the Commission members interacted with officers of Women and Child Development Department and instructed them to ensure that children get nutritious food by involving Anganwadi workers.

She said that children in these areas needed books, reading material, toys and new clothes. Those keen on sending these materials could approach the Commission. For details call: 22115291/92.
