Denied hall ticket, student ends life

Depressed over being denied hall ticket, Selva Kumar, 21, a degree student, allegedly hanged himself in his house at Geddalahalli in Hennur on Saturday. Kumar was a student of Jyothi College, Hennur.

According to police sources, Selva Kumar had remained absent for five months from classes. The college principal had called Selva Kumar's parents on Friday and communicated their decision of denying him a hall ticket.

Sources say that Kumar's parents on Friday night took him to task after which Kumar locked himself up in a room. When he did not come out of his room even by late morning Saturday, his mother knocked on the door but in vain.

They grew suspicious and broke open the door only to find him hanging from the ceiling fan.
