Last Updated 13 March 2013, 21:57 IST

Looking for clues in the killing of DSP Zia-ul-Haq and two others in UP's Pratapgarh district earlier this month, the CBI on Wednesday took two of the accused, arrested in this connection, to Walipur village and re-enacted the crime scene.

Sleuths also quizzed Phoolchand Yadav, brother of the slain Walipur village pradhan Nanhen Yadav and took into its possession the licensed arms that the family had, sources here said. The CBI has also intensified search for the missing service revolver of the slain cop and raided several places in the district to nab the suspects.

No witness has so far come forward with the information about the sequence of events on March two when the clashes had occurred at the village.

Meanwhile, the CBI vehicle came under stone pelting in Pratapgarh district on Tuesday night. The driver and other person narrowly averted injury, but the windowpanes of the vehicle were broken, sources said.

Police later registered a case against unidentified persons in this regard. Sources said police believed that it could also be an accident. A man apprehended in connection with the incident was found to be mentally unsound and released later.
