Counselling for headmasters commences

 The Government plans to recruit 1,836 headmasters under direct recruitment process, to fill up the vacant posts.  

Currently, there are 558 candidates who have cleared the Karnataka Public Service Commission (Teachers) examination and are ready for counselling.

Another 629 posts are scheduled to be filled under phase II at a later date, with 649 more positions having received Government approval to be filled in phase III. With the case pertaining to the filling up of headmasters’ posts still pending before the Karnataka Appellate Tribunal (KAT), it is learnt that the orders of appointment can only be given after the verdict. Currently, the candidates who have passed the KPSC examination will be given only a choice under three divisions to opt for service in State. The 558 candidates will choose from Bangalore (273), Dharwad (139) and Gulbarga (156).
