'Consumers should be cautious'

Every consumer in the society should be aware of the products purchased or the services availed, said District Consumer Forum member H S Rudrappa.

He was speaking after inaugurating the consumer day programme jointly organised by the district administration, Food and Civil Supplies Department, Consumers Forum at Information Department building in Chikmagalur on Friday. Asking the consumers to be cautious, he said most of the times, consumers will be unaware of the fault in measurement and quality  while selling the products or service. The Consumers Protection Act 1986 which was introduced to help the consumers from meeting with injustice, has led to creation of consumer courts in district, state and national level.

Food and Civil Supplies Department Deputy Director Rathnakar Naik was present.
