“Leave the decision to me. I will take care of it,” Jaganmohan himself quoted Gandhi as saying. He was talking with journalists after a brief meeting with the Congress president at her residence here.

Jaganmohan called on Gandhi at a time when a section within the ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh was levelling allegations that the helicopter crash, which had killed YSR on September 2 last, was in fact a sabotage.

Soon after YSR was killed in the helicopter crash, his loyalists within the Congress launched a campaign projecting Jaganmohan, a first-time MP from Kadapa constituency of the State, as the most suitable successor of his deceased father.

But the Congress high command put finance minister K Rosaiah in the chief minister’s seat. Despite pressure from Jaganmohan’s camp in Hyderabad and New Delhi, the party top brass has not yet made any change in the leadership.

Jaganmohan, however, said on Thursday that he and his supporters would abide by whatever decision the Congress president took on the leadership issue. “Whatever decision she takes, we will abide by it,” he said.

The 37-year-old MP came to the national capital to attend a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on finance. He also denied his supporters had launched a campaign in support of his candidacy for the top job in Hyderabad soon after his father’s death.

Jaganmohan told journalists that he had briefed the Congress president on the political situation in the state.
