Police are investigating the role of a Noida garment showroom owner from whose bungalow in Meerut, managing director of a private energy firm was rescued after being abducted recently.

Alstom T&D India Ltd’s MD and president Rathin Basu, 50, was abducted on Friday along with his driver after he had left his sector 71 office for home and was rescued on Saturday from the bungalow in Meerut.

Three Noida-based persons — Sanju, Naresh and Narendra — were also arrested two days before at Civil Lines area in Meerut.

“Naresh is the driver of the garment showroom owner and keys of the bungalow from where the kidnapped persons were rescued were with him.

A search has been launched to trace the owner so that he could be interrogated,” SSP Noida Preetender Singh said.

The three persons are booked under various sections in Noida and Meerut, he said, adding that three others had fled away and a search was launched to nab them.

According to Basu, the kidnappers allowed him to take all the calls so that his family does not panic.

“They dictated me what to say and asked me to talk in Hindi as they did not know English. They were constantly in touch over phone with somebody,” Basu said.

“A car hit my vehicle and when we got down two persons from that car came to apologise and then suddenly three more came carrying guns. They pushed us inside my car and kidnapped us,” he said.

They said they wanted his car for four hours and then they would set him free, said Basu.
As Basu used to speak in English or Bengali, his family members became suspicious when he spoke in Hindi and informed the police.
