<p>Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) plans to open an advanced research lab in association with Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMC&RI).<br /><br /></p>.<p>According to RGUHS Vice Chancellor K S Sriprakash, the lab will go in for comprehensive research in various fields like molecular biology or genetics to name a few. RGHUS has already sent a proposal to BMC&RI asking them for space to house the lab. “We plan to sign an MoU soon,” Sriprakash said.<br /><br />The varsity will hold it its 15th convocation on March 25 where 27,512 students will be awarded degrees and 34 will receive their PhD. Besides, a total of 45 candidates will be awarded 69 gold medals. Outstanding among them is Dr Santhosh Narayanan of A J Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore, who will receive 17 gold medals. Honorary doctorate degrees will also be conferred on the varsity’s first Vice Chancellor Dr S Kantha Jadhav, former vice chancellor Dr Chandrashekhar Shetty, Emeritus Professor of Medicine Dr P S Shankar and former Professor of Medicine, BMC&RI, Dr Mahabaleshwar Maiya. <br /></p>
