RGUHS plans research lab

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) plans to open an advanced research lab in association with Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMC&RI).

According to RGUHS Vice Chancellor K S Sriprakash, the lab will go in for comprehensive research in various fields like molecular biology or genetics to name a few. RGHUS has already sent a proposal to BMC&RI asking them for space to house the lab. “We plan to sign an MoU soon,” Sriprakash said.

The varsity will hold it its 15th convocation on March 25 where 27,512 students will be awarded degrees and 34 will receive their PhD. Besides, a total of 45 candidates will be awarded 69 gold medals. Outstanding among them is Dr Santhosh Narayanan of A J Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangalore, who will receive 17 gold medals. Honorary doctorate degrees will also be conferred on the varsity’s first Vice Chancellor Dr S Kantha Jadhav, former vice chancellor Dr Chandrashekhar Shetty, Emeritus Professor of Medicine Dr P S Shankar and former Professor of Medicine, BMC&RI, Dr Mahabaleshwar Maiya.
