Food and Civil Supplies Minister D N Jeevaraj said on Saturday that the department will soon start supplying rice at Rs 2 per kg to BPL card holders as the Office of Chief Electoral Officer (OCEO) has not raised any objection in this regard.
“The department has circulated the government order issued for implementing the scheme to all its district offices. Distribution of rice at Rs 2 per kg will commence in all districts on Monday,” the Minister said. The department was in dilemma whether to implement the scheme in the wake of the model code of conduct for the Assembly elections coming into effect from March 20.
