Members of gram panchayat, Rakshana Vedike and residents of Byadagotta village staged a protest demonstration following the death of a labourer, allegedly after consuming illicit liquor at Kyathe village near here.
The deceased has been identified as Doddayya (42). GP president K M Ganesh said illicit liquor menace is on rise in the village.
Two persons had died allegedly after consuming illicit liquor six months ago. However, the police have failed to initiate any measure to contain illicit liquor menace, Ganesh alleged.
