If the BJP is keen on winning from the KGF constituency, the party should give ticket to legislator Y Sampangi. Else, he shall contest the polls as an independent, said Sampangi’s supporters.
Addressing a meeting of Y Sampangi’s supporters near Bethamangala on Sunday, Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee president Vijayshankar said: “ If the BJP is eager to give ticket to a winning candidate, it should give the ticket to Sampangi.If the party refuses to do so, it is sure to lose the deposits in the forthcoming polls.”
The BJP could have secured an absolute majority in the recently-concluded elections to the Kolar Gold Fields urban local bodies, had it given complete poll responsibility to Sampangi, he added.
Politicking in party
Sampangi is being denied ticket, due to politicking by BJP district unit president Lakshmaiah and Union Minister K H Muniyappa, said Vijayshankar.
He threatened to stage a protest will be staged in front of the BJP office in Bangalore, if ticket is denied to Sampangi.
