<p>A 52-year-old head constable posted with the Delhi police control room department committed suicide by hanging himself on an iron grille at a park near New Delhi’s Tilak Marg on Wednesday morning, police said.<br /><br />Unni Krishanan, who was residing at police colony in north Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar, was found hanging on the iron grille at around 6:30 am. <br /><br />“We received a call from a passerby who informed that a police officer had hanged himself. We rushed to the spot where he was hanging within the park’s boundary,” said deputy commissioner of police (New Delhi) S B S Tyagi. <br /><br />“The body was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead,” added Tyagi.<br /><br />During investigation, police found that his family members left him 15 days ago and went to his native place in Kerala. Since then he had been mentally unstable and depressed. <br /><br />His colleagues told police that he was under depression due to some family issues. </p>.<p> <br />On being informed about victim’s death, his family told the police that they would not be able to come here to receive his body and asked to hand it over to a relative, who lives <br />in Lodhi Colony, for the last rites.<br /><br />After the post-mortem on Thursday, the relative received his body and performed his last rites, said the police officer.<br /></p>
