The family of SFI leader Sudipta Gupta wants to meet the West Bengal Governor to seek justice, Leader of Opposition Surjya Kanta Mishra said today.

"They want to meet the Governor. They said they have no faith in the state police and want a judicial or CBI probe into the death of Sudipta. I will convey their demand to the Governor," Mishra told reporters here after meeting Sudipta's family at their residence.
Mishra said the family had requested him to ensure that the appointment with Governor M K Narayanan RPT Narayanan was fixed promptly.

Sudipta's sister demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of her brother.

"We want justice. I still hope that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will look into it. She said it was an accident and a petty matter. My brother was in police custody and was killed by the police. We want a CBI probe. We will go to the Governor," she told reporters.

The Left and the Congress had earlier demanded judicial inquiry into the SFI leader's death.

Slamming Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her comments about the student's death, State Congress president Pradip Bhattacharya said that judicial probe was not an unjustified demand.
