Road concrete work to take off today

Work to be taken under KMR project

As a result, the private bus stand and KSRTC bus stand have been shifted to APMC maidan and KSRTC depot temporarily. The bhoomi pooja for the concreting of the road will be held at private bus stand at 10 am on Monday.

The concreting work is being undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 66.02 lakh under KMR project. The contract has been given to V N Constructions of Mysore. The first phase of the work will be completed within 45 days.

The movement of vehicles from private bus stand to amanthran hotel has been banned. All the private buses and heavy vehicles will be stopped from Town Hall circle. However, there is no ban for the movement of vehicles from in front of Town Hall via fort premises, Brahmagiri Comforts hotel.

CMC Commissioner K Srikanthrao said the concreting work will be completed within 45 days. Curing will take 21 days. There will be disruption in the movement of vehicles for seven to eight days.

10 feet wide road

CMC had decided to construct seven feet wide concrete road earlier. However, now it has decided to lay 10 feet wide road. Instead of laying slab for footpath, it has been decided to extend road by three feet wide. This will avoid disruption in vehicular movement once again while constructing footpath. CMC will have to bear addition Rs 26 lakh for the    extension of concrete road for additional three feet wide. District-level implementation committee has decided to bear the cost from the CMC fund for the time being. Later, grant of Rs 26 lakh will be raised from Karnataka Moolabhootha Saulabhya Abhivridhi Nigama.

He said “CMC do not like to trouble people. As a result, the work will be completed soon. One concrete road should be durable for minimum of 25 years. As a result, we are giving importance to quality as well.”

Mysore Ultra Tech Company has assured to supply 10 drum concrete daily for the work. With 10 drum concrete workers can complete 33 meter road daily.

He said in the second phase, the concreting of road from private bus stand to Indira Gandhi circle; in the third phase from Indira Gandhi circle to Cauvery hall will be undertaken.
