Bidding adieu in style

There is a sense of pride and satisfaction when students get together and perform for their own college. That’s exactly what the students of Surana College felt when they did an electrifying performance on their college day Parva.

It was the day when the college felicitated the winners and achievers of the entire year. Giving the much-deserved attention and encouragement to students, the teachers stood proud on the wings as they watched each student take the stage.

A day for the students and by the students, Parva had all the essential ingredients for a wholesome entertaining evening. There were close to 200 prizes that were given away to students of various departments, who had excelled in many activities.

Reshma, a final-year student, says, “There were many awards that were given away and one award that is really encouraging one was the one given to the student with the best attendance.

This really boosts up the students, especially the juniors.” The formal function was followed by the cultural events. The evening began with Dollu Kunitha, which was performed by the students.

Then came the performance by Swaragni, the college band, that had the crowd grooving to their peppy tracks. Apart from this, students also displayed their talents through events like group and solo singing. A folk dance had even the audience shaking a leg or two. The ‘mad ads’ team had the audience rolling in laughter.

Known for its popular fashion team, the evening also saw a unique fashion show. The theme for the show was ‘Sculptures Come to Life’. More than anything, for most of the final-year students, this day meant a lot as it was their last event on the campus.

Harsha, a final-year student, who was part of the organising team, says, “It was a lot of fun interacting with the participants and even the lecturers treated us like friends. While the evening went off smoothly and we had fun, I am also sad as it was our last event. I am certainly going to miss all the fun.”

Anoop, another student, who is a part of the organising team, agrees, “Our college life comes to an end with Parva. We successfully organised this cultural event, which turned out to be a colourful platform for students to showcase their talents. Though it is an emotional moment, I feel there couldn’t have been a better way to end the year.”
