ONGC win team championship

Siddant Thingalaya and Mayookha Johny claimed double crowns as the 17th Federation Cup athletics championships ended in a blaze of glory for ONGC at the National Institute of Sports here on Friday.

Siddant, who had won the 100M gold on day two, triumphed in his main event, the 110M hurdles, on the concluding day though he missed the World Championships qualification mark. The ONGC athlete clocked 13.84 seconds against the ‘B’ standard of 13.50 seconds. Siddant had set his best of 13.65 seconds at Brussels last year.

Mayookha, the long jump champion, added the triple jump gold to her kitty with an effort of 13.46 metres. The ONGC athlete, who holds the national record of 14.11 metres, needed to jump 14.20 metres to attain the World Championships norm.
