The CBI expose on cash-for-appointment in railways gave ammunition to the Opposition parties with the BJP on Saturday demanding the sacking of Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal as his nephew was arrested by the sleuths for allegedly demanding Rs 10 crore for fixing a top level job.

Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad remarked that “New records of corruption are being broken under the UPA government” and accused Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi of shielding their corrupt ministers, indicating that no action has been taken against Law Minister Ashwani Kumar in illegal vetting of a CBI draft report on coal scam.

Apart from seeking sacking of Bansal, the BJP again reiterated their demand of PM Manmohan Singh’s resignation.  The BJP refused to buy Bansal’s clarification that he had not business relationship on the grounds that “how can his nephew who was assisting him politically take bribe for appointment at the highest level without his connivance”.

Leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley said till the time Congress is trapped with the disease of minting money, the party will keep on asking for their resignations.

Bansal should go, says BJP
The BJP workers on Saturday took to streets in Chandigarh, demanding the resignation of Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal in the wake of the CBI arresting his nephew in a bribery case, DHNS reports. BJP senior leader Prakash Jawadekar, who led the demonstration, said there was “enough proof” against Bansal and “if he (Bansal) does not resign, the prime minister should sack him immediately”.
