JOIN US A 21-year-old allegedly committed suicide in her house at south Delhi’s Katwaria Sarai, police said on Friday.
Neelam, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, was staying alone in a rented accommodation and was preparing for a competitive exam. According to B S Jaiswal, deputy commissioner of police (south), she was found hanging from a ceiling fan on Friday afternoon.
The incident came to light after neighbours complained to their landlord about foul smell emanating from Neelam’s house. “They broke open the door and found Neelam’s body,” a police officer said.
Police was informed after one of the neighbours immediately made a call to the police control room at 12:50 pm. Her body has been preserved for post-mortem at AIIMS.
Police are questioning Neelam’s friends and neighbours and have informed her family. “The exact cause of death and the sequence of events are yet to be established,” the officer added.
