Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner Siddaiah has assured horticulture contractors that all arrears will be paid in the next five days.
His assurance came after the contractors went on an indefinite strike, demanding payment of their pending bills. They alleged that the Palike has not paid their dues for the last two years.
Siddaiah had convened a meeting of the horticulture superintendents on Thursday, where he discussed the problem, after the contractors went on strike on Tuesday. The superintendents told him that no new tenders were invited after 2009-10.
Siddaiah asked them to call off the strike, claiming that it will have an adverse effect on the City’s gardens.
