'Key is not to put pressure on ourselves'

Last Updated 17 May 2013, 19:04 IST

Royal Challengers Bangalore are in a must-win situation in their last league game against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday, but R Vinay Kumar felt that the best way ahead for RCB was to play without any pressure.

“Our preparation is good. It’s a very crucial match for us and a victory against Chennai will give us more chances to qualify to the play-offs. If you want to win in the IPL, you have to take every match seriously. We should not pressurise ourselves by thinking too much about the match ahead of us, instead we should just go out there and  give our best,” said Vinay.

Vinay was merely stating the obvious when he explained the trvails -- particularly in the end overs -- of RCB bowlers in this edition of the IPL. The Davanagere man said they needed to back their ability.

“We have played 15 games so far and the in the first eight or nine games we were bowling really well during the death overs. But in the last few games we are struggling and it’s the case with all other teams not just with the RCB. Ultimately, we need to back our ability and try to bowl well. Yes, the dew factor also plays its role as sometime the balls tends to slip,” said Vinay.
